Hi people!I was just listening Kiefer interview with John Meadows, where John said that he is backloading in a sense, but also eating oatmeal with peanut butter before training (peanut butter to even the insuline response from oatmeal). Also, I have listened Kiefer in one interview telling about modifications he did with crossfit athletes and endurance type atheletes where he tells them to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwitch before training, then carb heavy drink during training, and backload after training. My question is: does this looks like it is OK to eat oatmeal with peanut butter PRIOR to training session if you are training crossfit for example (or any endurance and conditioning type training)? Do you think that is OK with carb backloading principles? And would this time also be a good time to eat fruit?

Personally no. Unless you're doing some long CF type event, then no. Instant sugary oatmeal packets are okay PWO but not as a main source, which I still would not use, and some fruits are okay PWO.

if you want to do oatmeal and not use the instant crap ferment it.. it will break it down a bit and make it easier and faster to digesthttp://www.nourishingdays.com/2012/01/fermented-grains-the-perpetual-soured-porridge-pot/

I think that a carb meal pre-could be beneficial, esp if your training lands late. Keifer seems to have changed his way of carbohydrate consumption since the original release of CBL so this doesn't surprise me at all.

Yes if you are DBing and training late, pre workout carbs are useful if you can't get your carbs in PWO.  It's actually in the CBL book  under the late night training chapter.  I guess oatmeal could be used here, but really?  Oatmeal?  I would have the PB and J if it were me.However, I think 95% of people do not need pre-workout carbs.  I would follow CBL as is.
