CCTMemberI am a baseball player (pitcher) at a competitive prep high school, and much of my lifting/training during the fall and winter is geared toward getting ready for the baseball season and improving my throwing velocity. Ive been doing CBL for 1.5 years, and have been on these forums for a while, so I know most of the ins and outs of CBL, but my question is: Do any athletes/baseball players on here have any recommendations as to how to eat in order to perform at my maximum potential in this sport, but to not gain fat?I am 6 ft 165lbs and My training schedule looks like this : Mon/Wed/Fri--- 5x5 squat or deadlifting, plus some other isolation movements + 60yd sprintsTue/thurs: Cable work for core/shoulder/throwing motion+ 30-50 pitch session (at 82-86mph) after cable work. I do not eat carbs on the throwing/cable work days, and am sometimes get a sore arm which affects my deadlifting. Would a small backload be helpful? Do i need to be following a plan more like DB, or SA?

MagParticipantYou may want to write Alex Rodriguez a friendly letter.The guy has had a successful career,has always been buff and even hooks up with chicks during games.Dude would be a great source for training, diet and juicing cycles.It would be pretty exciting if he popped in here from time to time. 🙂

Do you follow a/your coach's running plan?These are the types of questions you should be answering before picking your nutritional goals. Throwing after cable-work seems wonky to me, but I'm of an older-schooled mindset (older, not old). Also a little surprised you don't do any explosive or ballistic training. Maybe you do but classify it as something else. My take: at 6' and 165 you should probably be fine on DB with smaller backloads on non-training days. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk Thanks for the input, I will definitely start doing DB with small, clean backloads on off days.. I generally do my explosive training along with 5x5, forgot to include that in the initial description. The offseason training program is not run by the team, and is a combination of what I have leaned reading books/articles by guys like Eric Cressey, Tim Ferriss, and Pavel Tsatsouline. Currently I am 16 years old with the longterm goal of playing NCAA D1 baseball, so as far as lifting goals, I want to definitely add size, so DB seems like a good choice.
