So,if I were going to eat nuts as a quick snack in the ULC portion of the day, which ones would I choose?Any thing preferable as far as peanuts, cashews, almonds or the other common cheap to get nuts?Is one better than the other in fat or amino composition?Carbs?

Peanuts aren't nuts, keep in mind.If health concerns are an issue, macadamia nuts or walnuts are probably the best options because of the PUFA amounts.

    Walnuts are almost completely PUFA.

Should've used the word ratio. Walnuts have one of the best n6:n3 ratios.Regardless though, they don't taste nearly as good as macadamia nuts.. Too bad they're so expensive

It doesn't matter.  The n3 are almost all ALA which has similar issues as n6.

Didn't say it mattered. Just putting the fact out there for the OP to make their own decision. There are too many opinions out there on PUFAs, as it is. Ranging from you should cut all of them (ie: Glitche), to you have to have a favorable ratio, to they don't matter at all. Too many conflicting theories and data to make a blanket statement. Although, I've never seen ALA as necessarily bad, it simply has a poor conversion rate into the truly essential EPA/DHA. This is the reason buying an omega fortified egg is better than taking flax, we let the chicken's liver to the expensive short to long chain fatty acid conversion for us, so we are able to get our more usable forms; EPA/DHA.

if you are cutting out all foods made of vegetable oils, salad dressings and such i wouldn't be that concerned about getting some PUFAs from nuts health wise.. think the problems arise when you get the insane amounts the typically person eats in a day when you look at a package on almost everything is made in some sort of vegetable oil.. even roasted nuts are generally roasted in sunflower or safflower oil so always go with raw nuts

OK,so it looks like raw almonds should be a good choice then?Even Kiefer has it as a snack in the CBL meal plan. Was just looking for something easy to get maybe 15g protein mid morning and mid afternoon.Working outside,I have to kind of sneak this stuff in without others noticing.

That's exactly my stance on it. The amounts are too negligible as long as you've got the big issues dialed.

Yeah. If you get roasted, look for dry roasted (for the reasons Sano said above).Could also do jerky.. It hides easily in a pocket as well.

Jerky? is there anything in jerky that would be a health concern?Kind of an industrial product,no?Oh,and RIP Macho Man Randy.

jerky tends to be soaked in soy sauce before dehydrated(at least most commercial brands are) if you want to do jerky id make your own or buy from a local place that doesn't use soy..

Just read the packages and you'll quickly see the ones that are and aren't worth your time.. Or make your own, or you can get it from somewhere like Steve's Paleo Kits
