Check the label, it will usually indicate raw/cooked for the nutritional values shown.

Yeah, similar to what AC said.. It really depends on the food, and the database you're using to find the nutritional info. Some databases will have something like “ground beef – raw” listed or “ground beef – cooked”, etc.. So it's very variable. That being said, I usually take cooked weights of meats especially.. Because a lot of the weight loss from cooking is water weight, not protein loss.

I believe the idea is not be counting calories and weighing foods?

Depends on what it is. I tend to weigh meat out after cooking as it's not as messy and veg out when it's frozen.

It's by no means required, some of us just like to keep tabs on what we eat.

I tend to cook up all my food, veggies and meat, and then place a plate on the scale and turn it on. The scale shows 0 with the plate and then I add my veggies (I tend to know how many carbs per 100g) and then add my meat and go off that number. So I weigh afterwards. I like to weigh my veggies so I know pretty close how many carbs are going in my body that evening.

Guess I am the odd one out here. I weigh my meat uncooked and count my numbers off that amount. It must be some of the habits left over from my weight watchers days.

I would tend to believe that vegetables are almost a negative calorie food, due to the fiber.
