jreinhalMemberThe few times I've used a scoop of pure dextrose in a PWO shake, I've become really light headed as well as a little shaky. Thoughts?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's just the sugar quickly getting cleared from your body between insulin and the glut transporters. It's actually really common if you start a backload with dextrose shake because of how quickly it is absorbed.

Yep...I had 30g corn syrup to start my CN last week and it cleared so fast it tanked my BS to 42.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorFor me, when I use dextrose, I try and sip it over 20-30 minutes rather then drink it fast. It limits the crash and nauseous.

Last week was the first time going hypo from carbs. Made me feel good because I knew the carbs for shuttled to where they should be going. I cured the feeling with 30g CS and a bag of skittles. Lol

Ian MackenMemberGuys, how much dextrose do I take post workout? The bag I have says 1 tsp=4g. Whats the ballpark range please?

Richard SchmittModeratorThe CBL book explains how much to take, it all depends on you personally. I'm assuming you do not own the book? It can range 1g-how much you want

I would add some normal sugar to this like scope did. I actually ditched the dextrose based shake in favor of more gummy bears! (; candy works and is more tasty than just straight sugar. Eat a meal soon after the shake. There is no benefit to going hypoglycemic, and I've seen evidence that it's likely to promote fat gain and obesity. And logically its also counter productive to gaining muscle as the stress hormones that kick in when you've gone hypo are catabolic (adrenaline, cortisol).

CBachelor17MemberI use 60g PWO everyday. If your getting dizziness try doing a mix like suggested above, you could try highly branched carbs like Maltodextrin or a similar modified carb blend. Sugar is cheaper though without question.
