Gift RecipientParticipantI started Carb Nite and was thinking of switching over to Carb backloading. I am about 10 to 12percent body fat, probabbly closer to the 10. I dont have the full visible abs that I am looking for. My workouts are struggling with Carb Nite so that is why i was thinking of switching to CBL now. Should i stay with Carb Nite to reach my goal of visible abs or would i get there jsut as fast using CBL?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIt may be a lack of musculature in your abs that is preventing you from seeing abs. What are your stats? And do you have pictures? Doing CBL and focusing on gaining muscle for 6-12 months would probably be a good idea.

+1. You can't chisel a pebble. You need good muscle there before you can see defined abdominals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Richard SchmittModeratorI agree do CBL for a solid length of time and stick to it. By the time you have the muscle mass you're wanting you'll see the visible abs

How do you know you are that body fat percentage? Did you get tested? Anyways I agree with the guys. You might need more musculature in your midsection for it to poke through. In my opinion, the best way to train abs is to do 3 or 4 sets two or three times per week at the end of every workout. Another option is to do them on off days since they are very easy to train at home. Vary your exercises and keep the reps per set around 10.

Despite this there are people who just dont have the genetic muscle shape for visible abs until very low bodyfat levels, some people can see them at rather high levels just due to the deepness of the linea alba and tendons of the rectus abdominis. But yes building them up will enhance whatever shape or depth is there. Apart from this 10-12 BF% guestimation what are your other stats, height, weight? 10% at 160lbs is much different than at 200lbs for instance.

Justin GuimondParticipantDragon-flags, landmines, db pullovers, and half-bosu (full-stretch-shorten) crunches (the Tim Ferriss special)… do 'em. And check out the X-Frame article on core.
