Hi all –I've got a nice little routine going for my meals, but I am looking to expand out a bit. I've started compiling a list of my favorite foods that are specifically higher in fat than in protein, and I wanted to expand out and see if anyone has anything else to add to the list.-Avocados (in my salad)-Ground Sausage (in my salad)-Sausage links (yum)-Mixed nuts (I keep these low due to carbs)-Bacon (yum)-Pepperoni/Salami (good snack)-Green olives (in my salad)-Cheese-Butter-Coconut oilI've done a number of searches in Google for high-fat foods, and most of the results are things like fish (annoying when these come up), coconut oil, cheeses, etc. Any thoughts?

Samsa,Just as a heads up as I learned of this just recently myself --- as far as avocados go, they are good in fat content but you have to watch as they have a higher carb content than you might have thought.  Do a basic google search for nutritional info and you will see what I mean.  I know you are likely not eating an entire avocado in one salad, but check it out and watch your portions with it so you don't bust your daily 30g by assuming it is all fat.best of luck!

Don't fear avocados or the carbs in them. I eat 1-2 avocados 3-5 days out of the week.

Scope75,My bad - I re-looked at the nutritional facts.  Just realized the vast vast majority of carbs is from fiber so it ends up not being a big deal.  An entire cup of fresh avocado has a total of 12 carbs but 10 of them come from fiber....so really only 2 remaining to go towards your daily count.Sorry for any initial alarm I may have caused.

Awesome, thank you all for the feedback. Pork rinds is an interesting idea, I'll have to try that one. I've been trying to cut back on the cheese, and I try to limit the mixed nuts due to carb amounts. Unfortunately, those are my favorite snacks. It's been difficult, but after about a month and a half, I'm finally getting to the point where I don't crave them so much. When it comes to something like mixed nuts, many of the nutritional facts I can find say that there are only around 5g usable crabs per 25-30 nuts. This seems rather low considering how people often warn against being wary of nuts. Are they just particularly effective at spiking insulin, or is it just that it's so easy to overeat them?

Chicken Thighs!I switched to chicken thighs from chicken breasts. Much higher in fat and very good.My normal lunch is a chicken thigh and a cup of spinach w/ a tbsp of butter.

here is a pic of comparison of chicken breast to thigh. The roasted thigh is much higher in fat. I also have included a link to one of my favorite recipes for chicken thighs. Its from Practical Paleo. Mustard glazed chicken thighs.http://www.joyfulhealthyeats.com/paleo-mustard-glazed-chicken/Very good book w/ very good recipes.closeupmustardchicken-610x406.jpg

Agreed. I would assume that it would be left on.
