Hi Calories are really never talked about in context with carb back loading or carb nite. I'm doing CBL SA. What does calories mean in this scenario? Do I want to be in a deficit, a surplus or does it not matter at all? Goal is recomp, as with SA. So, some muscle gain along with some fat loss. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

making better food choices aside from worrying so much about hitting calorie numbers is much better for you in the long run than eating "junk" and counting calories. Counting and eating junk will help you lose weight or hit whatever goals you are aiming for but chances are you will not be to happy with yourself years down the road.. but it really is your choice what you want to believe.. in the short term most anything will work for the most part..

Follow the recommendations in the table in the back of the back.  After that just play around with your food intake.  If you give me your current weight and body composition and desired weight and body composition I can give you some recommendations. What Kiefer tried telling everyone in CBL is that you do not have to track calories.  You can lose fat by just eating at the appropriate times and listening to your body.  The only time I would recommend tracking calories is if you need to do some serious troubleshooting.
