I have always been under the assumption that fats blunt the effect of carb ingestion, but I learned in CBL that even the ingestion of amino acids cause an insulin spike which I did not know.To extend fat loss, I have been contemplating the use of a zero carb whey isolate with my A.M. shake, but if it's the aminos hitting the bloodstream that causes the insulin spike, then I'm not going to waste money on expensive zero carb whey. I'll just hope the MCT oil/heavy cream etc. blunts the initial insulin spike caused by regular whey.Does anyone know if the aminos that result from the metabolism of whey cause an insulin spike regardless of the type of whey used? I know it's a nit-picky question. Just curious. Thanks for any help/input.

I wouldn't say 10 g of whey spikes insulin.  A “rise” in insulin would be more accurate.

true although I didn't see him give an amount.. but yea for the AM accelerator i wouldn't worry much about the insulin

Thanks for the help. Would you say the zero carb whey is worth it? I'm wondering if the MCT oil and/or heavy cream will blunt any insulin effect from 10g of regular whey? Not going nuts here with this, but would like to keep fat burn going as long as possible by minimizing insulin…

A Whey Iso should be fine. If you are only doing 10g of protein from it even with a few grams of carbs per scoop you cant be getting more than 1 or 2 grams with a half scoop or so. Not going to make any difference as far as blunting fat burning.
