Can anyone scientifically refute this information?Has anyone done multiple 6 month stints on the CNS safely?Has anyone heard of permanent ill effects?Ok.  After two months on CNS and doing ok, I am now finding blogs and books about the dangers of low carb. The main issues seem to revolve around the following:1. PIR (Physiological Insulin Resistance) induced by ketosis and ULC diets.  The muscles become insulin resistant, which forced blood glucose up 10-20 points (potentially from cortisol release) I am personally seeing this and it worries me.2. Mucus is needed in the digestive tract, tear ducts and other areas for proper body function and the immune systems functions.3.  Thyroid issues are created from going ULC.The overall consensus is to use rice, and potatoes daily, along with non starchy vegetables. At a minimum, carb reefed twice a week or a few days in a row weekly.

The reason why Carb Nite Solution is a great lifestyle to fall into, is because you have that weekly refeed. As explained in the book, it restarts your hormonal responses and metabolism once again. As needed. Going long periods of time without the carb refeed, yes will have some ill affects and can lead into some health related issues. I will have to find them, but there are some recent information stating that going Low Carb is not bad for health, as long as you have that proper moment to re-carb up.

I think the short carb up is what I am fearing.  Is 6-8 hours, once a week, really enough to supply the gut biome and immune system with what it needs? For example, I was so excited initially, I was planning to do 6 months on 1 month off 6 months on.  Now I am starting to wonder if 3 months on 1 month off would be safest?Long term maintenance would be something like rice or potato with dinner.  I would still be avoiding sugar and grains and HFCS forever.

Long term maintenance would honestly probably be better with a carb refeed either 2 times a week or every 4th day, but yes, it will be enough to cause the metabolic changes, and assuming you eat some veggies and maybe look into using resistant starch you will get what you need.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this. I saw this discussed in another thread and now cannot find it  >:(Should obese people wait a little longer between refeeds when starting out carb nite? Like if I'm at 34% BF would doing like 2 weeks for "reorientation" and then probably 10 days between carb nights for awhile help or hurt? I know everyone is different but I'm just trying to see if this is a viable option or if it would just be dumb.

Assuming your are male, then 14 days would likely help for a few month. If you are female, it wouldn't hurt, but it might not help as much either. This is all assuming you aren't doing tons of glycolytic activity during the week.

i read a study on some long term affects(6+ months), like increased joint pain, but i don't really remember very many of the details.  All of my books are boxed up, otherwise I'd dig it up.typically all the blood profiles improve on low carb though...

From personal experieince and bloodwork to confrim. I run Low Carb & High Fat non-stop. If I take off weight training from Thanksgiving to New Year's, i'll gain extra weight. Come January I do my 10 day initial kick-off, Carb Nite re-feed, followed by a re-feed every 7 days. Once i get to the BF% I want, then I go back to a re-feed 2 days a week.
