I have some confusion about several CBL basics:1) Recently, I heard Kiefer say NOT to use MCT in the a.m. coffee unless your going to workout or do some type of cardio. I have a 9-5 job and train at 6p. Should I avoid MCT and just use some heavy cream?2) The latest I've heard is now the PWO carb 'free of all' outlined in Vers. 1.0 is now down to rice and/or white potatoes. With most complex carbs out (as they cause and extended spike) and all the simple trashy foods now allegedly gone, this protocol seems as restrictive as many other diets. Have I got this right?3) With years of personal experience with the Anabolic Diet and IF, one thing they had in common was that it was very difficult to gain size (long periods of either no carbs or no eating at all). I'm seeing this with CBL as well. After all morning/day ULC, then an hour of training + time to digest my Gatorade and whey and then being limited to rice and potatoes for the insulin spike, it just doesn't leave someone very much time to eat big. Add to that the Kiefer concept that growth hormone bonuses won't kick in until the insulin subsides and your window is even smaller. My experience is that ULC eating will help maintain LBM, but doesn't do much to help one get bigger. Is anyone else experiencing a difficulty in putting on LBM with CBL? Every week there seems to be a new restriction (fructose/fruit, corn syrup, complex carbs etc.)...

    1.  What are you referring too?  Is this a recent podcast?2.  No this is never what CBL was about.  All Kiefer said in the book was that junk food can be functional and can be eaten.  He never recommended backloading with pure junk.  Remember "Don't be a fat kid".  I know the junk food was a selling point, but it was never intended to be the entire backload.  However, it is appropriate for some.  Eat high GI carbs.  Use sugary treats in limited amounts.3.  You probably need to find more dense carb sources.  Junk actually may be a good idea for you.

    1. yes, just came across it this week and now I can't find it! It was an interview with a friend of his and it was the first time I heard him say this. Basically, he said that the use of MCT for someone who wasn't going to engage in exercise shortly after could cause an overabundance of triglycerides and some type of unfavorable condition ( I can't quite remember what it exactly was). I'll do my best to find it.2/3. I guess i'll stick to Gatorade & whey followed by rice or potatoes and then back to P + F...

Where did you read that your limited to only rice & potatoes?? Last summer i went from 156 to 170+ on CBL. I ate rice kirspie treats, ben & jerrys by the pint, other ice creams, fresh baked donuts and other baked goods. Along with rice and sweet potatoes and white potatoes. But never limited it to only those and was very successful putting on LBM.
