Hey guys, I have a question.I know Kiefer and many of you are against crossfit, but we do a hybrid of it at my gym as we love the type of training. A regular session (4x/week) consists of some quiet heavy oly-lift sets (snatch, clean&jerk, etc), a weight complex or/and one or two crossfit-like metcons.I am currently mainly looking to lose fat, but would like to keep my performance as it is as much as possible. I know high intensity usually sucks while low carb. Do you guys think I could add around 50g of carbs for example pre&post training + one carbnite a week? How do you suggest tweaking it to make it work for this type of training?Also...I know Kiefer is completely against cutting calories while low carb, but I have a big appetite even if I'm low carb and can easily eat above maintenance even if I'm sub 30g of carbs/day. That is why I was also thinking to aim for round 2000 calories a day even though I know I'll oftentimes get hungry. Any thoughts on that? Thanks a lot for all your help and advice!:)

What are your stats? Body weight, height, age, gender, etc? Please and thank you! That way we can help give a better suggestion.

No one here has a crystal ball so try it out yourself and see what happens.

I'm an 18 y/o guy, 167cm (5'6) and 67kg (147lbs). I train four times a week as mentioned above and go to school with my bike almost every single day, which adds up to around 20 min of moderate bike riding each way.I usually ''fast'' in the morning, I only drink coffee (black with truvia) and not eat anything until lunch (3-5pm). I chew a lot of gum in that time. Thanks!

Go to Body.io, and listen to the podcast about Ketogenic and Endurance Athletes. Right now you're in the ballpark and honestly I would think CBL would suit you better unless you plan to cut back on training a bit.

You should do CBL instead. Unless you want to cut pretty much all the complexes and metcons except for maybe 1, 2 a week at most.

Well I'm a shorter kind of guy and would really like to lose some fat first. That is why I was thinking of doing the cns rather than cbl. I tried cal once for a shorter period of time (too little I know) and only gained more fat.Do you think cns + a little more carbs around training won't cut it?Also what do you think regarding cutting calories while low carb? I have a big appetite and if I eat until full and satisfied I simply eat to much. I don't know why Kiefer is so against cutting calories, as there is many similar keto-style diets as cn which do exactly that. I'm not trying to question anyone, I'm just being curious. Thanks again, I really appreciate it! 🙂

It's not cutting calories, it's more of removing carbs first half of the day. If you plan to do Strength sessions, then backload with more starches and glucose type carbs, maybe do that 2x a week around the sessions. I am the same way with not feeling hungry during the day, PWO is a different story.

Well I removed carbs in the morning long ago. I can still eat A LOT of low carb foods though. Too much to be exact. I've tried the no-calorie-restriction way but I simply gained weight and I didn't eat anything besides meat, coconut oil, a tiny bit of cheese and nuts. I do love almond butter (natural, nothing added) and I consume it daily, but I know it's not the best fat source and I try to limit it. That is why I thought calorie restriction is the only way to go for me.So you suggest two backloads a week after strength training session rather than a small amount of pre & post workout carbs with a carbnite, even if my goal is fat loss. Also I am rather strict with my diet the whole week if I can have a day when I really ''let myself go'' and simply eat whatever I want. What do you mean pro is a different story? You're hungry no matter how much carbs you eat? I thought that you are supposed to eat as much as you wish? Or should you limit the backload as well?Thank you Bix Tex verrrry much!
