Scott AueParticipantI've read a bunch of threads on the site related to attaining < 10% BF and almost all posters seem to go to CBL or go back to CBL from CNS when attempting to get below 10% BF. Can someone briefly explain why? I would think the ketosis/minimal carb-style diet recommended for CNS would naturally be better for fat loss, but the indication seems to be that CNS stalls out at about that BF%. Just wondering.Thanks for any help.

Richard SchmittModeratorThe reasoning behind it because the leaner you get, the more carbs you'll end up needing. I believe Kiefer might have mentioned this a while back. Though in my opinion, without knowing your body, training, and nutrition, fine tuning those will help obtain <10% or lower. Using CNS can help with that, just those who train a lot can get there but not in the way they want.

Thanks Tex. I guess I just don't understand the leaner=more required carbs thing. Maybe as the BF % drops, the body won't burn as much bodyfat in a keto state? I wish I had more clarity on the science behind it. I'm a little older and I used to run the Dr. DiPasquale Anabolic Diet and ran into the same thing. Stalled out at about 8%...

Never heard anyone recommend CBL for less than 10% body fat. I always heard two Carb Nites per week as the recommended diet.

In this video at 2:20 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc15FEcFUXI) Keifer suggests using CNS to get to a certain level and then says: "...then take carb back loading all the way down." Plus, I've read several threads where people have said they use CBL for <10%. That's where I've heard it, but maybe I'm interpreting wrong?

In that video Kiefer said what I told you in my earlier post. The general recommendation is to use Carb Nite to get down to single digit body fat percentages. As Kiefer said, you can use CBL to do that, but it is slower and requires a lot of tweaking.I've been on these forums since January 2012 and never was the consensus recommendation to use CBL to get into single digits. Some people use CBL to take a break from CNS or to try to bust a platueau. Some people use CN to get to the point where CBL actually works (15% bodyfat).My recommendation is to use standard CNS for as long as you are getting results. Once you hit a plateau, then start having Carb Nites every 5 days (4 days ULC, then a CN).
