Hello, I'm 46 and female. I am a MAJOR believer in carb-nite and Kiefer. I lost 40 pounds and 5 pant sizes in 6 months. I did everything our 'guru' said and did not cheat! And I am a couch potato! Now, I want to believe for an even better result through resistance training. My husband is on the journey with me. He lost 30 pounds and several pant sizes in the same period of time. We are a walking commercial for carb-nite. He, however, is not a couch potato! I am open to any advice about 'starting from the couch' - I am very teachable. So happy to have joined in the discussion.

Congrats on the success!! For both of you! When you say your husband isn't a couch potato, do you mean he lifts, or just that he's active?CBL works on the premise that you are lifting weights, so in order for a successful switchover, you'll want to make that a priority!

Honestly I think most women are better off doing twice a week Carb Nite than CBL.  A lot of women have used CBL successfully, but they tend to be performance focused athletes or really serious about fitness.  I think the average Jane who just wants to lift weights to feel good and look good is better off with twice a week Carb Nite.Men on the other hand should be on CBL assuming they are at the appropriate level of leanness, which is around 15% body fat.
