Hi fellas!  I have had good success with 5x5 and SA but I would really like to pack on more muscle now, so I am trying to back load every day still using 5x5. No surprise, my body fat has also increased along with a couple of kilos body weight. Which leads me to my question,  what protocol will provide the T-glut translocation that should help shift the training day carbs, that I can complete in 3 days?I am aware that the volume is too low with 5x5 for DB and shockwave in its variations is too long for my spare time. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated thanks!5'7'72.5kg14% bfDfekt

Normally the increased weight and body stems from your nutrition, not training. 5×5 can work just fine, providing the volume you're doing, but again it's nutrition. Are you being accountable or just slamming a bunch of carbs without care?

Cheers for the reply Tex its appreciated.  I vary the carb intake from 100-300g per day depending on how I feel post training.  I focus on white sticky rice predominantly as the junky stuff is too easy to slam down.I am glad that I can continue with 5x5 and that the problem may be the carb amounts, not the training itself. I will modify my eating plan with this in mind.Cheers Tex 🙂

It should be considered that carbs don't go into the substrate of building muscle. So just adding in carbs won't necessarily affect muscle gain. Have you considered just upping your protein intake instead of increasing carbs?

I did 5×5 for a few months and ate carbs every night and same thing. I was also pretty dumb about it and not only ate them every day, but overdid it as well.It was when I was still figuring it out and learning what works. My personal opinion is people overrate the need to eat carbs every day for DB, but everybody is different and I suppose some hardgainer types need it possibly though even that is debatable.I don't workout weekends, so Saturday no carbs, Sunday small amount to be ready for Monday evening training. Basically doing exactly what the book says about back to back days off if needed.

Yes.More importantly you just need to eat more in general. DB still works fantastic if you don't backload on off days.

How much protein are you currently eating. If you are eating 2g/kg then there is no point to adding more protein and you should probably just add more fat.Past the 2g/kg it's pretty much all gonna become carbs anyway.

Cheers Trevor.  The book says 122g and 78g for the 2 parts of the day for my target weight.  However,  I think I have been hitting close to 160/170 most days. I think I could benefit from hitting the 200g mark and then bump the fats afterwards. What do you think? Thanks.
