agentmadsParticipantDid anyone here get better recomposition/fat loss results from backloading on off days as well (with a decent caloric intake)?I mean, people are different and so are their carb tolerance. Several friends of mine (not backloading) eat carbs on daily if not hourly basis, haha, and are still very lean. I've even seen a friend of mine who started looking a lot worse after cutting back on his carbs. So yeah, could someone with higher carb tolerance benefit from eating carbs (still backload them) on a daily basis, even with regards to recomposition/fat loss?

Richard SchmittModeratorIt would depend on their level of leanness and training. I'm sure genetics can play a role as well.

+1. Also, you would not be able to backload with as many carbs as you would if you were only backloading 3-4 times a week, especially on off days, if recomp/fat loss is the goal.

Alright. Could you give an example of that? How lean and what type of training? And with regards to genetics, do some people need more than 3-4 insulin spikes (carbs) a week to keep fat burning/mobilization going?

Training would probably be an intense 5x a week if your body can handle it, athletic type work as well as Olympic work. (This is all opinions). Leanness well probably sub 10%, reason for that is Kiefer even mentioned how the leaner you are the more carb refeeds someone might need. So maybe smaller frequent carb spikes wouldn't hurt. Now genetics wise, I don't know at the moment. It's just something that can play a role in body comp, and how your body works.

as long as you're still averaging a lower caloric intake. 3-4 backloads is easy because the ULC days really balance out the energy intake from the backloads. if you want every night, you'll have to be eating less per backload to make sure you average about the same as you would otherwise. its really that simple. assuming your fat/protein is set up correctly, the carb macros; thus, cals, are what's going to be the variable.
