Would 40-50g of carbs be too little for a backload for a female?

If you did 2 or 3 "meals" of that amount that might suffice. It would depend. I think 130-150g in a backload is a safe minimum for pretty much everyone.

But if that's the amount I had for the entire backload it would be too little?

It probably wouldnt do much of anything yeah. If you were eating so little you may as well be on a fully ultra low carb diet like CNS. How many calories do you estimate you have to play with? What are you current stats? What type of exercise and activity are you doing?

I've been doing cns for a while and I've seem to hit a plateau so  I'm considering trying carbbackloading  to help break this plateau. I mostly want to lose fat as well as gain muscle. I'm 5'0 and around 122 pounds

How lean would you say you are? There probably not much left on you to lose at that weight and height I imagine. what were your macros on CNS?

Usually around 110g protein and 60g fat but I've been  upping the fat lately to see if it would make any difference

That works out to 980 calories. That's awfully low.I'm the same height and weigh 119 pounds and I eat at least 1,600 calories a day and I'm considering upping it soon.Have you considered you may have stalled due to too low calories?

Yeah I reckon. Slowly try to increase your calories. Look into Layne Nortons youtube videos on metabolic damage and reverse dieting.I would just add some carbs on top of that. At least 150 after training IMO.

You mean you were eating ess than this before?!?!Add the carbs. If you want to lose further fat you are going to need to get your metabolism up as high as possible. Extended periods of low calories is not a healthy fatloss approach. Look into those videos I mentioned.
