Penny DannerParticipantDoes hwc break the fast from overnight? I've heard yes and no.If it does not, then would it be ok to hiit even being fasted 12-13 hrs?

Richard SchmittModeratorPersonally it doesn't break the fast. Having MCT oil (or the Accelerator Shake) does break it due to the rapid surge of macros into your body. HWC, coconut milk (canned full fat), coconut oil tends to be delivered in the blood stream (body) 2-3 hours post digested. So it helps satiate you but doesn't provide the needed energy intake for a couple of hours. Its still okay to do HIIT fasted, just taking coffee before hand is extremely beneficial.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIt doesn't matter all the much. If you "break the fast" before 12 hours the biggest things are1. avoid carbs2. Pure fatPast that it doesn't matter. As long as number 1. is in place you are okay, number 2 is just a bonus.

Penny DannerParticipantOkay, I've been doing my hiit with coffee/hwc…so that's ok? I have just seen some say they do theirs on black coffee only.I am very aware of the benefits of coffee/caffeine. 😛

Richard SchmittModeratorMy mistake, I wasn't trying insult you or anything ma'am. That would be okay yes. For me personally, I would suggest holding off on the cream till afterwards if you wanted. That is me, if you're seeing awesome results with what you're doing. Don't change it.

No harm done. 🙂 I know you don't know what I know...no offense taken! ;DI'll have to play around with it I suppose. During the school year, there is no way for me to do HIIT fasted...I'd have to get up too early and that is worse on my body (I tried that for awhile this past year and I could tell it wasn't doing my body any good). I might as well try it while I'm out for the summer. It's only a day or two (or 3) without cream right away, right? hee hee

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI think if you are going to do HIIT you would be best off having 5-10g of MCT or coconut oil.

shaffe43MemberI know alot of people do coffee pre work out but I deff notice a difference between coffee and a pre workout like muscle pharm assualt http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/musclepharm/assault.htmlor c4 extreme http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/cellucor/c4-extreme.htmlI feel they get me amped up to go much better they also have good stuff like:creatineB6 B12Beta-AlanineBCAA (Leucine, Valine, Isoleucine)TaurineL-GlutamineAnd other stuff (some are thier own special sauce blends)(if your paleo then youll prolly not like all the "extras" to each thier own)There are a few carbs in it, but i feel the advantages of the Pre Workout out weighs the few carbs in them.I follow this up post workout w/ a PWO shake blend of creatine mono and something like combat powder (from muscle pharm)then about an hour later doing a coffee w/ heavy whipping cream.

Thanks for your input too! I'm not quite ready to get into Preworkouts....maybe one day. 🙂
