Sherylea HurstParticipantI am having a very hard time with my CN in that I start at 3 and go til about 6 or 7 and the rest of my evening, namely when I am trying to sleep is ruined! I am beyond dehydrated, which keeps me up for most of the night….instead of looking forward to CN I dread it as I know my Sunday will be a complete right off. I drink gallons of water which then keeps me up going to the bathroom. My question is how detrimental would it be for me to start my carbs earlier, much earlier…..like say 12-4? Thanks so much, any advice very appreciated!!

Richard SchmittModeratorWhy don't you drink before the CN and try not to overload on water during it? I'm not sure it's having carbs being the problem.

Sherylea HurstParticipantIt is the ONLY time I experience severe dehydration and I am a water drinker….4 liters plus per day everyday……its why I think its the carbs as I don't have this problem ONLY every CN……I have tried drinking more water prior….what would happen if I started earlier in the day? Not so good?

Penny DannerParticipantIt seemed to help me when I ate a banana at my first CN “meal”….a couple times I also adding in 1/2c. of a gatorade type drink (definitely avoid Powerade because of HFCS) at 2 of my “meals”. If it is the achiness that you are saying is messing with your sleep (besides the bathroom), then you need something to help keep the electrolytes balanced in your body (and some of the water in). A pinch of salt in all of the water you drink may help too…..avocados in the days prior and after CNs are good in that they are rich in potassium. I've done all of these and they have all helped.

Sherylea HurstParticipantNot meaning to be difficult but I have tried Gatorade and Coconut water as well…..I think my question is ” Will I screw this whole thing up if I start at noon?

Penny DannerParticipantI think you may still have the same issues. I dont' think it would hurt to try and see. Then you will know not to do it again. So if you do your CN from 12-4 (and why are you doing a 4hr CN and not a 6-8 hr one), are you just not gonna eat anything the rest of the night?

Sherylea HurstParticipantI probably would have a protein shake and that would be it….

TCBParticipantTry having pedialyte throughout your CN, see if that helps.
