So if you are back loading and trying to slim down … From 22%-18% female… Should you keep the actual carb backload portion lower in fat?  So yes high glycemic quick processing carbs, but leaving out the fat so the insulin spike is faster/ bigger?I'm not super big on junk carbs... I eat very clean and prefer things like potatoes, rice and rice pasta or yams on carb back loading days... Those are all likely too slow digesting still...esp in the context of a meal.  Am I right? Should I go for gluten free scones or buscuits instead?? W jam? Please advise. I feel a bit confused on this point. Thanks!

Those are all find choices for backloads. Also, they don't have to be low fat but for a female to get lower then 20% you do need to start watching calories closer so keeping the backloads low to moderate fat will help control calories.

Insulin is a storage hormone so too mush fats in back loads is not good because you can store dietary fats. For example if you have 2 meals in the backloads, try to limit fats in the first part of the backloads and you can have a "dirtier" last meal.

We used to recommend that, but through experimentation, most people have concluded that it doesn't matter.  Kiefer even says this himself.

Exactly what I was getting at, but wanted to read it from him and his reasoning.

He probably just saw one of those old Kiefer articles.  I don't really blame him for recommending it.

Neither do I. Thought it might have been an N=1 type deal as well.

I might be wrong but i don't think it is really optimal to have fats just after the workout for example in the post workout shake. Apart from MCT, which is Ok with carbs.

Not in the post-workout shake, but in the backload its fine.  It doesn't matter.
