superherobydayMemberI read Kiefer's book, and I'm a little confused. In the breakdown of the post workout Carb Loads, Kiefer unashamedly promotes donuts, pizza, ice cream, and french fries. And yet in the "Don't Be A Fatty" chapter, he scolds those wanting to eat similar, if not identical foods. Fast food and penne pasta for instace. How is Penne Pasta on the shit list, but Pizza is good to go? He says in this chapter that CBL is "no excuse to eat like shit." How then are donuts and ice cream not considered shit, but pasta and cheeseburgers are? Pizza yes, pasta no? French fries yes, fast food no?In need of clarification...Cheers

There aren't good carbs and bad carbs (well except low glycemic carbs), what Kiefer means is that you can't overeat and expect to do CBL fine successfully. Essentially he is trying to say is that food that is traditionally considered "bad" can be used strategically, but it doesn't mean it's a free for all.

superherobydayMemberSo he's referring more to a quantity thing more than a quality thing?I feel like his chapter on the actual diet was somewhat vague. He basically just advises to save carbs until night, after the workout, and "it's that simple." But I find myself asking, well is there such thing as too much? Is there such a thing as the 'wrong' carbs? I mean we have a guy endorsing pizza and donuts and eating (and I quote) "mountains of food," while at the same time advising to avoid junk food, and to not overeat. What I'm left with is a somewhat ambiguous strategy of eating a lot of crappy carbs at night, just so long as I don't eat too many, and they're not too crappy.

The chapter is a bit vague, but it's not hard to understand if you use common sense and you actually try to make the diet work for you. You have carb/calorie needs. All Kiefer is saying is that there is nothing wrong with meeting those carb needs with donuts, as long as you aren't exceeding your overall calorie needs.

KARLITOMemberWhat I notice is that it is easier to eat more calories when eating “dirtier” foods than “clean” foods. For example, it's easier to consume 100 g carbs from a pizza or burger than from jasmyn rice.So it has some advantage if you desire to eat a lot of calories but it can be dangerous in a way that you don't control anymore all those calories you're ingesting.
