heatherParticipantHello! This is my first post so I'm super excited to get some questions answered. I've read the book twice and skimmed multiple times, and I've been stalking the forums – so please forgive me if the answers are right in front of my face 😉1) I'm a little confused about how much fat to be eating during my ULC days. I had read multiple times on this forum that 1:1 protein/fat is a good ratio - great!... but then I read that that means calories, not grams - shit! If that's the case then I have been really overdoing it. Then I just read in another post that 80% of calories can be from fat. If that's the case then I am fine. Which is it?? 2) I've also read on here that you shouldn't consume whey protein on ULC days because even though it has low carbs it can still give you too big of an insulin spike. That really made me sad. I love those things! But then, what about the fact that Kiefer says to have an AM accelerator shake in the ULC part of the day before a backload? So, is it ok on a backload day, even during the low carb portion, but not on a ULC day?Any clarifications would be much appreciated!!(hope I didn't just make too big of an ass out of myself 🙂 )

If that's the case then I have been really overdoing it. Then I just read in another post that 80% of calories can be from fat. If that's the case then I am fine. Which is it?? Awhile back, on a podcast, Kiefer gave guidelines for each of the diets. For CNS he said appx .5 GRAM of fat to 1 GRAM of protein. Which is approximately 1:1 in terms of calories. For CBL he said 1 GRAM fat to 1 GRAM protein, which is, obviously, more than 1:1 calorically. This all being said, however, it doesn't seem to really matter, and I haven't heard him give any guidelines in recent history. Too many people have had success all over the board. You're female, and CBL'ing, so I'm going to assume you're going for strength/muscle. Based on that, get approximately 1g protein per lb bodyweight (or a little under), and find the right combo of fat and carbs that gets your total calories high, but not high enough to gain fat/halt fat loss.2) I've also read on here that you shouldn't consume whey protein on ULC days because even though it has low carbs it can still give you too big of an insulin spike. So, is it ok on a backload day, even during the low carb portion, but not on a ULC day?As a general rule of thumb, it's better to eat your protein, except in a PWO situation. Also, the AM accelerator shake from the book has a very small amount of whey in it, which really won't do much to insulin levels. Overall, it's probably minutiae, and you can probably find success using whey more than just PWOAny clarifications would be much appreciated!!(hope I didn't just make too big of an ass out of myself 🙂 )
