I'm confused over what actually builds muscle in relation to carb night and carb backloading. Assume you are on these diets and lift 531. So, there are both elements of heavy lifting and hypertrophy lifting. What does it take nutrition wise to build muscle? Is it solely protein? How do carbs play into this on either diet? Basically, what does it take scientifically to build muscle on these dietsOn a related note, it seems like carb night is not optimal for building muscle so is it even worth doing high rep sets in the hopes of hypertrophy? Or would you be better off doing the strength lifts and then conditioning work? Thanks in advance.
Yes, protein builds muscle.Carbs help to give your muscles energy so you can work them to the level necessary for best hypertrophy. Plus, the insulin release from the carbs can help stop the catabolic environment that lifting creates. And you are correct, building muscle on the CNS diet is most definitely harder, and nowhere near optimal.
