Tomorrow is my first carb nite.I'm just thinking what I'm are 'supposed' to do.  I think I've done well on the low carb diet all week.  Some of the experienced people here have said my macros have been good for 160lbs Male with 15% or so body fat, averaging about 130g protein, 130-140g fat and 15-20g carb.I'm going to start on the carbs at 4pm after a heavy resistance workout.  I'm wary about fat with the first meal, as it is talked about in the book as a danger for both fat storage and dairy being a appetite stimulant for the rest of the night. So I'll start with chicken without the skin with a big bowl of pasta and nice sauce (maybe tagliatelle), desert I'll have a rake of biscuits or something like that.  Then from 6pm onwards I'll eat what ever, ice cream, cheesecake etc.I'll end about 10pm.Does it matter how much you eat?  Do you need to eat protein with each carb gorge as well?

I think Kiefer has changed his stance on no fats for the first meal, but I still start off with a meal of saltine crackers and lean ham, then eat pretty much whatever I want later.I don't think pasta is recommended as much as rice, potatoes, and bready stuff are though. Apparently pasta isn't as high on the Glycemic index unless it's cooked to mush, but it may work fine for you.Everyone's ideal CN will be different, and it may take a bit of trial and error to find yours. Don't be afraid to experiment a bit, and most of all... enjoy your carb nite! 🙂

Pasta is no good. Skip it. White potatoes have the highest insulinotropic rating behind jelly beans.Have a bowl of mashed potato with every protein intake.

No offense, but that sounds incredibly boring and mundane. Part of what makes CNS so easy and enjoyable is the ability to, basically, kick your heels up and go crazy once a week. That being said, pasta isn't the best, in terms of an insulin response. However, if you enjoy pasta, eat it. Just be knowledgeable that that may come to be a tweak you make if things aren't working for you.To the point about fat storage with fat in the first meal; it doesn't matter. Personally, what I would do since you're going to hit a workout anyway, is to hit a protein shake with some carb source, then an hour later or whatever, begin eating whatever you feel like.Having some source of protein with each meal would be a good idea, but not necessarily mandatory. The ULC portion of the week is what mostly makes/breaks the diet and whether it works. Put your energy there, and enjoy your carb nites. If for no other reason, than the sanity of not having a mentality of being restricted, even on your "free night."

Here's what I had:I ended up starting it late at about 7pm Kicked off with white rice and chicken tikka mealAte 10 or so cream centered biscuits after thatThen I had two cheesecake pieces, like the size of your palmThen I had a packet of those pasta things with ham and cheese in themEnded it at about 12.30am, went to bed soon afterI was properly full after all of this and didn't want anything else.I know I was asking about pasta and that would have been better at the start if I was going to do it, but what the hey.  That's not such a big deal is it?And did I eat too much?  It was hardly too little anyway, haha.  Felt about the right amount based on what I saw as sample carb nites and how I felt.

Doesn't sound bad to me, but you should know for sure in 2-3 days. 😉

I feel I'm losing fat already, while also feeling more muscular.  My gut feels smaller and tighter.  I'd say I've lost a pound or two of fat already.
