Brian TimlinParticipantI think I'm over the teething part I had for a few days in the middle of the first week, where I was tired most of the day, but I still have one remaining issue. I'm waking up very groggy and it takes me a couple of hours to get my energy back and running again. The end of the night I'm tired, like I should be, and ready for bed. I sleep fine. It's just when I wake up I'm in a stupor and lacking energy.Any ideas? Just the next thing that will change in week two? Or do I need to do something differently?My HIIT exercise is only for two days after Carb Nite. Then I do three heavy resistance workouts in the days after that, including before eating Carbs on Carb Nite.However, I have noticed that the mornings that are groggiest and worst are often after a workout day, any type of workout. This was not something I had before.It might all just be getting used to the diet, we will see on that I guess. I don't think my workout regime is too strenous. I've actually temporarily dialed it back a lot to work with carb nite.Any ideas on why it is taking me so long to get going in the morning?

Melvin McLainParticipantThe increased glycogen stored from carb nite is used up in about 3 days, so your heaviest workouts should be during that time period.

Brian TimlinParticipantMaybe, I'll do two of those heavy resistance workouts right after the HIIT in the two days after carb nite.But that would mean 3 heavy resistance workouts three days in a row. Not sure how that can work, especially if I switch carb nite closer on one week.There might not be any problem, only that I'm still adapting. I think I'll reserve judgement til next week.

Brian TimlinParticipantI've been eating on average 125-140g of protein, 140g fat and 15-20g of carbs. I'm a guy 160lbs 15% body fat or so.Could that be not enough?Note: I had the same morning issue after loading up on carbs on carb nite as well.

Brian TimlinParticipantI've changed it up a bit today, partly due to how I felt this morning and also because I did a HIIT session. I felt like trying more fat. I had 130g protein, 187g fat, 15g carbs. I'll see how I feel in the morning after that.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIt's probably just your nervous system not being fully recovered. That would be my guess, and that will likely just happen on CNS. Glucose can help with neural recovery and with decreasing cortisol

Brian TimlinParticipantFelt good when I got up today and that was after HIIT yesterday as well. So I'm either getting used to CNS or more fat is a good idea for me.I also felt this sensation this morning of my thyroid being more active. I could actually feel it in my upper chest, I was like what's that and then I realised it must be the thyroid. I've never been aware of it before, so there was something going on with it.I was still pretty groggy, but that's not so bad if you have energy. Groggy is often a sign of a good deep sleep in my experience anyway.

Brian TimlinParticipantSeems it was just adapting because I did HIIT yesterday, two days in a row after carb nite. I had 150g of fat, which was similar to last week and woke up this morning feel energy and no grogginess either.
