When it comes to carb backloading it's clear that dextrose/glucose is king due to digestibility Fructose is to be avoided due to it only being able to restore liver glycogen Sucrose, maltose and starches fall in between these two iircSo where exactly is Lactose on this hierarchy? Is it a useful carb for backloading?

It's up there with glucose actually. It goes through a few steps but ends up as glucose.

I thought it digests slower but most sources of lactose (like milk) provide a large insulin response?

It does digest slower, but it ends as glucose.Only worring about all this stuff is over thinking.Don't drink sugar, and don't consume pure fructose like agave. But that make 75% or so of your carbs food sources like rice, bread, potatoes, and enjoy your self on the remaining carbs.

+1, especially on the over thinking part. Don't stress over those things (I'm not say you are, but just don't)

I agree with not over thinking these things. It just ends up being a huge information overload when you do, stressing over the minor details leads to ignoring the bigger picture in my experience.

So it's better to eat foods with lactose than drink milk then?It does digest slower, but it ends as glucose.Only worring about all this stuff is over thinking.Don't drink sugar, and don't consume pure fructose like agave. But that make 75% or so of your carbs food sources like rice, bread, potatoes, and enjoy your self on the remaining carbs.

I agree. It makes a big difference on how I look the next day if my carbs were clean (potatoes, rice, bread) vs if I eat “junk”…what about sorbet? The ingredients are mainly Water, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Egg Whites, and Cocoa but I thought Sorbet was highly recommended for back loading...
