MetalMuscleMayhemParticipantI've been seeing some cyclical bulking protocols a lot lately. One that particularly interested me was a one week period of 10-12 calories per lb of BW and low carbs. This period is followed by a two week period of high carbs and 20-24 calories per lb of BW. I'm toying with the idea of doing a one week period of CNS, combined with my lifting (currently doing Greyskulll LP), and 3-4 conditioning sessions. This could deplete my glycogen pretty sufficiently and set my metabolism for favorable nutrient partitioning, right? I would then do two weeks of CBL density bulking protocol and cut conditioning to once per week. This could allow me to create a major short-term calorie surplus and a huge nitrogen balance and add some mass before my body gets sick of processing all the food. Anyone tried something along these lines?

You could very well do this if you wanted. The difference with DB and SA in CBL, is just eating more. Especially starting the day with breakfast (whole foods, instead of coffee or tea with HWC, CO, etc). You can still have carbs everyday with SA, just need to structure it accordingly to that specific day. Meaning less carbs on non training days compared to days you do train. When you mean conditioning, what are you doing? I would think 1-2 days would be better instead of 3-4.

MetalMuscleMayhemParticipantMonday & Friday: 10 minutes of burpees and kettlebell swings after lifting. Wednesday: 10 50yd sprints after lifting. Saturday: 20 minutes of suicide sprints. This is only during the low cal, ULC week. For the two weeks of high cal, high carb backloads, I just do 10-15 50yd sprints on Saturday.
