Joseph FlahertyParticipantHey guys,I've tweaked my template a little bit and it has me training from 3-4:30 PM. I'll be having my shake around an hour after, and my backload meal 45 minutes later, so I should be all finished eating carbs at around 6:30.Problem is, I don't go to sleep until around 12:30. I don't want to keep eating carbs any later into the night to mitigate fat storage (and I can store it easily, trust me). I was considering two options for a final meal at around 10 PM before bed:1) 30 g Fat, 30 g Protein from whole foodsOr2) 50 g Casein Protein (Kiefer made mention of the benefits of this in a podcast he did with Ben Pakulski)Would either method be preferred? Are there any detriments to this approach (going back to ULC in the post workout window)?Just wanted to get some thoughts, I might try both approaches.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nicholas AlonzoParticipantJust follow these rules and your fine1.Don't fast longer than 12 hours2.Hit your calories and macros for the day3. Is it dark outside? Go ahead eat Carbs just make sure it fits your macros (and no early morning hours don't count as "Dark")Sometimes Ill run into your situation, I eat another carb and protein based meal before bed and then skip breakfast the following day to make up for the calorie/macro difference and lunch will be my first meal. Eating before bed is far more important than breakfast your body is literally growing your muscle as you sleep.

Melvin McLainParticipantA boiled/baked egg (two if I'm hungry) seems to work best for me at bedtime.YMMV.

Scott AueParticipant(1) TBSP. fish oil (approx. 100 cals.), (1) scoop casein (approx. 100 cals.) shake in water. Fits the 1:1 recommended fat:protein ratio.

TCBParticipantIn that situation, I've eaten something like cottage cheese and nuts before and enjoyed it.

Brandon D ChristParticipantI'd eat something fat and protein heavy, however I think it can have a little bit of carbs in it. If it were me, I'd eat something like BBQ pork ribs.

Joseph FlahertyParticipantSounds good guys, might start with a small protein/fat meal and progressively add carbs over time if my body responds well enough. But at least I have a starting point.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
