Low carb diets are dangerous. This was basically what a swedish newspaper headline said today. Here's the study they sited: http://www.bmj.com/content/344/bmj.e4026I only skimmed it, but it seems to me that conditions are very hard to control over 16 years. I didn't see any mention of high fat in the study either, but the newspaper focused on that.Opinions?
A low carb diet that is very high protein without enough fat can be deadly. Literally, it can kill you, it's called rabbit starvation. Of course this an acute condition and your diet probably has to be like 90% protein, but we could hypothesize that chronically this would not be good for the body. Especially since we know that you need fat for the body to function properly.
Horrible study, done on observation food logs, people in the low carb groups were found to be eating pizza, hambuers and fast food, hardly low carbI surprised it even got published
