rhaeastinnKeymasterJust wondering if there is any known timeline on when Kiefer will be releasing the CBL version for women? I've seen Julia post that it is coming, but just wondered if anyone knew when. I'm apprehensive to try backloading, because Kiefer says in the book that it's not designed specifically for women, and I'm just not sure how to modify it for myself, as in how many carbs I should be having each night, or what other changes would be made. I think that backloading is more suited for me, not because I don't have fat to lose, but because I'm a powerlifter, and training to get stronger, not necessarily leaner (although if the two can go hand in hand I'm all for it). I train six days/week, and my thoughts are that I wouldn't backload every night, maybe only 3/6 days. I've used CNS in the past, and it worked well for me, but feel like CBL is more suited for me with my training.Any idea or info is greatly appreciated!

Karin O’SullivanParticipantGreetings and welcome. I have used both protocols and enjoy them both. In fact getting ready to switch back to CBL for a few months. I would recommend that you do the prep phase and track your weight loss as this will give you an idea of how many carbs to backload. For myself I have found that smaller backloads work usually in the 100-150 gm range even though my numbers from the charts in the book indicated I could actually take in 600-700 gm on a backload. I train 4 days a week and will backload 4 times a week. It has been posted somwhere in the forum that usually for women a regular meal (meat, vegie, potatoe or rice) with a small dessert is what to shoot for. Experiment with it to find what works best for you. I also go with a bit lighter backload if I had a lighter training day and heavier if I trained heavier. Fat loss for me is much slower backloading than using carb nite but the muscle and strength gains have been really good. I follow the SA protocol when backloading. Good luck!As far as the book is concerned no idea when it is due out.

rhaeastinnGuestI've read most of Julia's posts, including that article on the site trying to find out some information, but thanks for the link. I'm thinking that I'll try backloading somewhere in the 100-150 gram range, and see how it goes. The prep phase puts me at a lot more carbs, but I'm hesitant to try that. You're right, I'm just going to have to experiment and see what works (and anxiously await the release of CBL for women, since I'm curious on how it would differ). I know I can always go back to carb night and make it work if I need to drop some weight fast. I'm also going to try and be diligent with my measurements, using pictures, measurements, and the scale so I can have an accurate display of my progress by more then just the scale.

Karin O’SullivanParticipantI measure about every 6-8 weeks and have pics taken. I am only using the scale to track “depletion”. If I am not back down to my pre CN weight then I add in an extra session of HIIT to get depleted. Of course this will change a bit when I switch back to CBL SA.
