McLeod2012MemberMy coach recommended these both to me and I was curious if anyone has had success with either, knows any research on one or the other, or which is more important.

CptSmashMemberI've been on HMB in the past without any really conclusive results.D-AA I've been on for the past 6-months, also inconclusive results. It's suppose to increase testosterone levels (free T) by up to 40%, but the doses have to be really high. I can't remember the research off the top of my head, but I went from 5g x 2day, 10g, 20g, and then my stomach got quite irritable, so I dropped it back to 5g x 2day. I had blood work done in March this year, with no real increases in free T from my last years blood work.

McLeod2012MemberReally? I posted this topic on another thread too and the other two guys said the same about HMB but they both had rises with T with DAA. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

You can't really say which one is more important, since those supplements are supposed to do completely different things in the body. This is the paper that kinda kicked off the whole DAA-hype: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19860889 (you can access the full text for free). I'm currently 31 biological, going on 23 mentally! Of course this is probably due to the fact that I'm such a high volume trainer. I've been hitting the extreme limits of my body's capabilities this year, since I have so much ample time to train and experiment. I thought it might be worth a shot, since it's not regulated and could possibly help with recovery.

McLeod2012MemberHaha oh okay! You're still young! But I'm 18 and I was kinda wondering if my test levels would even need elevating? Maybe in my final weeks of my contest prep?

Most of the research says that DAA is suppose to increase free test by 40% after 12 days by taking 3g a day. Last year I stacked 2 scoops of N.O Xplode with 3g of DAA and 2g of L-carnitine before training and it was pretty sick! Lots of energy, high libido and had some awesome training sessions. I decided to run the carnitine because research shows that it increases Androgen receptors, which is a receptor that testosterone binds to; so the more receptors you have , the more Testerone will bind. And how can you increase testosterone? Resistance training and a lil' bit of DAA!Also tried HMB but did not see anything worth mentioning.

McLeod2012MemberHmm. Maybe once I get closer to the competition I'll pull out some DAA for an extra kick.
