I can't find any pure whey iso in my country and the only to get it is international orders but the shipping costs are not worth it. All we have are some famous brands with ace-k.Question: What can I substitute for the AM shake in place of whey isolate? I was thinking of eating 2 eggs (not in the shake though) to stay in the same protein ballpark of ~10g but from my understanding, it's the inherent property of whey to prevent catabolism that we are after so...there's no alternative?
Call me crazy, but what about whey concentrate, since we're talking 10 grams here. There won't be anywhere near the carbs or insulin from the aminos to cause a spike. But I'm a newbie here 🙂
It's technically the same. All “famous” brands have ace-k whether isolate and concentrate. And speaking of…all brands here may be called “concentrate” as well. None are pure 100% isolate if I look at the label.
Just skip they whey and use coconut oil and cream/butter.The only time the whey is good is if you have trouble eating enough protein, but if you are backloading just have an extra protein shake at night and life is much easier.
At first I was using 10g whey isolate, 5g creatine, and 5g DAA in my second coffee post AM workout, but then I switched to MCT oil and it is making a big difference in how I feel in the morning. I would go with the MCT/Coconut oil option.Â
