Big_RParticipantAnybody taking straight niacin? If so, what is a good dosage? i heard it kind of varies by body weight. Also, not sure but would it affect strength at all? I read that it gives u that dry look, and in my experience anything that gives you a dry look tends to mess with strength.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI've not noticed any issues with strength that I could correlate directly to Niacin.I take 500mg extended release x2 a day, but I take it less for performance/aesthetics and more for health reason. There seems to be something to it possibly increasing performance, and while I haven't looked into it I've heard people say it might increase the nightly GH release.

.Well the gym i work out at is actually run by a female bodybuilder. She actually recommended it to me and she said it would really increase vascularity.... I figured i would experiment with it. I also was gonna do 500mg pre workout.... Guess i will post tomorrow after a trial run.

Not heard of this. Maybe because Niacin often causes flushing (vasodilation). If that is the case then i would stick with immediate release forms and not extended release forms. Just start low and go slow, the flushing can sometimes be unbearable. If you go over 1000 mg in dose, i would have have your liver functions checked occasionally.

Yeah, that's why you see a lot of bodybuilders (the natie ones anyways) pounding some wine behind stage. That extra niacin really vasodialates the circulatory system. It's fairly short lived though if I'm not mistaken. Not sure on hGH secretion at night though. It's B-vitamin, so very possible, but that may not be the direct action.
