thrownullpointerMemberHey guys i'm pretty new to the forum. My main goal is to be lean with some nice muscle. I'm not trying to be a strong man (or a competitive power lifters) and i'm also not trying to look like i'm roided it.I'm about 5'9 and I'm hovering around 193 pounds. I was at 230 when I didn't give a shit about my diet. I've dropped a ton of weight & packed on muscle (very muscular compared to my old build). What body fat % do you think CBL is most effective for? CBL is meant to burn fat and build muscle, I think we all want that... But if you have quite a bit of fat too burn is it better to run CNS then bulk with CBL or to bulk with CBL then burn off the fat with CNS?Before these diets i was on a strict keto diet that helped me take off fat and build muscle.I attached a pic so you can see my build. I'm not sure what my BF % is, i ordered a caliper and i'm waiting for it to arrive. I still have some stomach/chest fat that i'd really like to burn off.

If I were you I think I would do CBL strength accumulation. That way you could continue to lean out slowly, while building more muscle mass - a double whammy! (both will help you look leaner)

thrownullpointerMemberWhat body fat % do you think CBL is most effective for? What do you mean?
Lets say we have Skinny Guy A and Fat guy B.Guy A has 10% bf and wants to pack on muscle. Guy B has 30% bf he wants to be lean and muscled. Will Guy B become lean and muscular in less time doing just CBL or should he cut back his bf% before bulking (bulking using CBL that is)?I understand the program has 2 different routes, but would another program be effect before CBL such as CNS?Guy A seems like a good candidate for CBL because the main concern is building muscle while staying lean (or possibly losing more fat).

I was thinking this because of the effects on IGF-1 (due to low insulin). Keto also effects T3/T4 levels which plays with protein synthesis & metabolism. I noticed a lot of people stop losing weight on keto, my guess is their metabolism drops off...

zewskiMemberIf you want to lose fat, lose fat (do CNS). If you want more muscle than focus on that (do CBL)Put all of your effort into one goal. Recomping is definitely possible, but more often that not people tend to spin their wheels and would be better served to just decide on a specific goal and go all out with it. No one will be able to tell you what to do, because it all depends on what YOU want.Good luck with whatever approach you choose.

thrownullpointerMemberI'm just looking for a personal opinion. Is it easier to build muscle then cut fat while trying to retain muscle?Or lose fat then build the muscle?

If you do CBL SA you can build the muscle with losing the body fat. CBL SA is like a win-win situation however if you need to drop a good amount of body fat the CNS would be the way to go and still gain a bit of muscle not much but it can happen

You can argue either way.If you're lean you're more insulin sensitive and will be able to have the majority of your calories go towards muscle while back-loading.However, if you have more muscle your metabolic rate will be higher and you'll burn fat more quickly.Do what you want, but I've always favored getting lean before putting on mass.
