What about fructose in Fruits?

    On my way looking out for clean carbs with high glycemix index/ glycemic load I stumbled upon dried dates and raisins. According to several websites they should raise the blood sugar pretty quickly. Raisins even more than dates. But what about the fructose in those fruits? Is it as “dangerous” as any other fructose in pops or ice cream? Should I avoid it therefore or not worry about it? Dont we avoid fructose because it DOESNT spike insulin well and get stored in the liver right away? so if dates and raisins do spike insulin, they seem to be ok?I am asking because there is not only fructose in them but a little more fructose than glucose (raisins) so maybe that has a certain impact? and what are your favourite clean foods to spike insulin pretty decent???so far I tried white rice and millet, which seems to work...

    Fructose is Fructose, no matter the source. Fruit of any kind really is sub optimal to backload with in my opinion, but using fruits that have the same or more glucose aren't all the bad.White rice, whipped sweet and white potatoes, tapioca, and dextrose are my staples.

    Fructose is not dangerous and is so low in a lot of fruits that you shouldn't have a problem with it.  The problem you run into is the lack of an insulin spike due to the relatively low GI of some fruits.

    Yes again the fructose levels you want to be concerned with and no only the glycemic load from foods. Now I'm sure you can pair it with some other high GI carb, but making it a staple of your backload or CN, would not be ideal and will not show the magic of it. Maybe a few bites here and there will be ok, but again...limit them.

    They have a high GI because they have a lot of total sugar from a small amount.But it will be easy to go overboard on fructose with them, and they wont be near as beneficial as other things could be or as tasty as ice cream would be.

    ok, got it 🙂started my carb night with some donuts, rice crispies and potatoes. no raisins and dates for me 🙂
