I'm really trying to get into the habit of eating bigger meals.  It's about 7pm  right now, I'll go to bed at around midnight.  So far today I've had one meal at 2pm.  It added up to about 67g protein, 6g carbs and probably about 60g fat.  I know it's not quite right but I'm getting there.  I weigh 170lbs atm so I'm shooting obviously for 170g protein and the same for fat.  I can't decide whether to have one big meal at around 7:30 or 8pm (which would be well over 1000 calories) or split it into 2 meals.  The problem, obviously with eating 2 meals is that I have to wait longer tomorrow morning to break my fast.  The foods I've got to choose from are:80/20 beefbacon strips-not streaky so they have twice as much protein as they do fatcheeseavocadoeggsspinachAll of this stuff combined would make a tasty meal but that's an awful lot of stuff to eat at once.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Personally, I come from an IF background, so on ULC days I typically only eat 2 meals. I'll break my fast with some coffee + 1 tbsp of coconut oil at about the 12 hour mark, then I'll have my first actual meal a few hours later (typically happens around 3pm). I generally take in about 70g of protein and 60g of fats in this meal (I weigh 140lbs -- shooting for 150ish), so I stand around 70p/75f at that point. Then around 9ish, I'll make myself a really big meal hovering around 80-90g of protein and fat, enjoy eating it slowly, call it a day, and get to bed about an hour later. Both my meals are pretty similar -- I typically make myself some sort of massive ommelette. The afternoon meal tends to be made with something like relatively lean turkey or chicken breast, eggs, additional egg whites, fatty bacon, and cheese. The night time meal is typically pretty much the same, except I make it bigger/fattier and use 80/20 beef instead of turkey/chicken. I usually end up with somewhere between 160-180g of protein:fat by the end of the day.Hope this helps!

I just feel like it's so late in the day to be having so much fat and protein at once, which is ridiculous considering the amount of carbs I'm willing to stuff my face with during a backload.  I'm still trying to get the hang of it and I've got like another 100+ grams of both protein and fat to reach my targets for the day and it's nearly 7:30.

That meal about an hour before you go to bed must end up being 1000+ calories, right?

Hahaha. I know what you mean, but I have to eat that late because if I try pushing that meal earlier in the evening, I will be hungry again before bed and I would have to fight myself to not eat anything else.I get my final 80-90g of protein/fat around 9-9:30 at night (and oh yes, it's well over 1000kcal) and I don't seem wake up with any ill effects. I also think it actually helps me get to sleep a little easier having some substance in my stomach.Don't stress so much over it. Just play around with things and you'll figure out how you like it and what makes you feel the best. You'll get the hang of it, man

Yeah I'm trying for sure.  I'm just gonna end up having some bacon and avocado cheeseburgers with a couple eggs and some spinach.  It'll be delicious I'm sure.  It's just a mental thing.

I feel you. Coming from low-carb and IF for a long time, CBL pretty much goes against everything I had accustomed my body and (more importantly) my mind to. Habits and mindsets are tough to break, but if you give it a shot and do it right, I think you'll be happy when you find that Kiefer's ideas do produce some pretty rewarding results.

I definitely think I'll get great results.  I should have known better than to think I would be able to make such a big transition seemlessly...seemlesll...seemlesly - that's a stupid word to spell.  I'm really getting into it though.

I'm gonna destroy it!  I'm going to start an actual log this week too so once I get back in the gym next week I think I'll have myself sorted out a bit better.  There's lots of helpful feedback on this sight so I'm looking forward to seeing what I get out of that.

If you are doing CBL you can also try the intra/post workout shake cocktail... it's shown me some great results.  Basically you mix protein and carb powder (i prefer dextrose) and sip on it during and after the workout.  I normally do about 70g protein and between 180-240carb shakes...  if you are 170 Lbs you prob benefit from 50g protein with 120-150 carbs of dex powder and then wait an hour or two and just have 1 meal.  cheers

LOL    hey, i'm going for str8 mass…    i think intra is one of (if not) the best times to soak up the carbs.    After listening to That meadows podcast.  i found that i get REALLY bloated intra/pwo  if i have too much dextrose so i built-up to this because it feels right..

I was never a huge intra guy, but it makes the most sense. From working the Meadows I don't think I will ever go back to having a PWO shake again. Your body is craving the protein/carbs when your breaking down the muscle during the workout! If you got done just doing a massive set of heavy squats but still have a bunch of accessory work, wouldnt you want to start fueling the muscles you just killed. makes sense to me Even if I try a cut, Ill still have the Intra.
