CaseyDMemberhttp://www.amazon.com/Champion-Olympic-Power-Bar/dp/B003N0GPXU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_topSo I don't know how it took me 3 years to discover this, but it turns out, my barbell is lopsided. One side is about 1.5-2 pounds heavier than the other - and now that I notice this, it annoys the hell out of me. Guess that's what I get for buying a cheap set from Dick's.Anyway, I'm looking for a solid replacement that won't completely break the bank. The bar in the link has a 1500 pound test (though the most I lift ATM is 315, so that's fairly irrelevant), 10 year warranty, and some solid reviews. I have no plans to do any snatches, power cleans, or other exercises that would require some flex in the bar, hence the power bar option.I'm also leaning towards the black oxide option, just for something different. Anyone have experience with this? Like does the paint chip super easy, or does it just get scratched up?Wow, seems like a long post for just a barbell lol, just don't want to get burned with a lopsided one again. Does this look like a good deal, or should I be looking elsewhere (where it looks like decent bars are $400+)?Thanks

RoadblockParticipantOk…… My first thought is that if you absolutely know it is weighted heavier on one side why not just weld a weight on one side to offset it?RB

FairyGuestDoes 2 lb really make a difference to your lifts?

Does to him obviously, lol.Another thing you could do is put it on a 1" wide block at measured centre and see how it tips. Then add weight to the higher side until it balances itself out.RB

bdw531MemberWhen I was looking to upgrade my home gym, the advice I kept getting was to get a good bar. I had the sporting goods starter set and figured it was fine. If you havent tried a good bar, you won't know the difference. The research I did kept leading me to the Texas Power bar, and thats what I decided on. I don't regret it for a second, the thing is awesome - the bar is all black with deep, sharp knurling. Its been tested at well over 1,000 pounds and I'm no where near that yet, but if you're putting hundreds of pounds on your back or over your face its nice to have some peace of mind. I ordered mine through LB Baker at http://www.irondawg.com/texas_power_bar.htm , it was the best price I could find for an authentic Texas Power Bar (you can tell by the state of TX stamp on the end caps)
