so for the past week I have been having some sweet cravings and have been making those little desserts from here on the forum, with protein powder, an egg, a little hwc and I add some pb to mine. I have been CNS for a few months now, recently fell off the wagon and am on my 3rd week back on. The funny thing is, I have been noticing my fat loss seems/feels like it's moving faster this week ... and the nights that I have the desserts I wake up feeling leaner each day. maybe its just a coincidence, but it got me wondering if the protein powder in it is whats causing this? I usually only have whey protein isolate after a workout, but I have been having these desserts as my last meal about an hour or so before I fall asleep. I know I have been coming across posts in the backloading forum about spiking your insulin right before bed and I guess maybe thats what I've been doing without realizing it?I'm not very good with the science of it all, I just thought maybe I stumbled on something that's making a difference, and maybe even the nights I'm not craving sweets I might benefit from a protein drink before bed. any thoughts? or is this all probably just a coincidence and I'm crazy? ;D

Well, it would be interesting to know if whey before bed can help or hinder fatlossListen to the first 10 min of podcast 15 part 1. Kiefer explains why insulin spikes make it harder for your cells to burn fat. The question is, how long does this effect last? Does post whey hypoglycemia trigger an optimal environment for more fatloss?

Ok I'll take a listen. I am going to keep it up as long as I feel leaner. I guess I know over time whether it makes a difference or not! I wasn't even sure if protein powder still worked the same when its cooked into something like that

Do let me know what you discover 😉 the more deserts I have to eat in the name of fatloss, the better

I fell of the wagon after 6 weeks of CNS, just got back on it recently, and I'm noticing increased fat loss as well. I think if you have a decent amount of willpower, by the time you cave in to cravings your body is in a state where a break would actually help. Hell 4 days off the wagon I swear I gained a fair bit of muscle back that I lost “by accident”

Don't worry. I had four 'Carb Nite's in a row at the end of August! Now I seem to be constantly looking for excuses to have a CN every couple of days

I found a few things that keep me totally steady and I have a HUGE sweet tooth..1st, I got that calorie countdown chocolate milk Kiefer had talked about in his book and sometimes just a swig of that is enough to kill the cravings for the night. Also, aerosol whip cream is generally about 1 carb (it's mostly air).  Sometimes just a shot of that can curb my cravings.  But I really like a sweet/salty mix, so I've done a small mix of just dry roasted peanuts an whipped cream.  That may sound weird, but it reminds me of a sundae. These are generally like "quick" fixes - but while this doesn't take a lot of time if I want a REALLY great desert I do a little mix of rasperries and blackberries, Heavy Whipping Cream, Splenda w/Fiber and mix it all up - then some whipped cream on top.  That little treat got me through weeks and weeks 🙂
