Hi guys my name is Gary from the UK and I’ve just decided to try carbnite to achieve sone body recomposition goals. I’ve just downloaded the book last night and started scanning through it at work so this might be answered somewhere in there.

I’ve been ketogenic since March measuring my BHOB and glucose levels both an and pm. A few weeks ago I ran a 10 k race but in prep I decided to a refeed (which I think made a big difference to my finish tine opposed to straight up ketosis) this got me investigating further and so I dived into carbnite.

Anyways, I did my first carbnite last Saturday and what I noticed since my unofficial carbnite and last weeks was that my ketone levels have gone from way above averaging anywhere between 3 -5 mmol throughout a 24 hour period to averages of 0.3-0.5mmol since my first refeed. However the last two mornings they started to rise back up into the 2 mmol range. After my daily morning run to work (3km) I notice they begin to drop. I’ve reduced my protein and carbs lower to get a rise after hearing Kiefer mentioning lowering protein. I also notice if I have mct oil they don’t rise nor after my 5×5 sessions. I was under the impression that they should rise after workouts and mct oil? I eat less protein and carbs now than I did just doing keto, I should point out I follow a paleo/ primal diet and work in a coffee shop which keeps me on my feet 12 hours a day where u fast till I get home.

My question is..,if tomorrow’s much excited official Second carbnite. Should I postpone if my evening ketone levels are poor (around0.5) even if my fasting morning levels are 1 mmol or above? Before my carbnite I plan on doing a short resistance set and whey isolate with leucine before carbing up proper.
What are expected ketone levels right before emoting on carbnite.
I’ve attached my ketone data from before I attempted carbnite.

    Thanks in advance
    Gary

Honestly speaking, ketones (or ketosis in general) aren’t really a big part of the discussion when it comes to how well CN or CBL work – so you might not find too many people who can speak to the detail you’re talking about here Gary. 😐
