ActionJacksonKeymasterHey guys,Im gonna have to end up training waaay later than usual, at 930 tonight. Scanning through the book for the appropriate protocol and wanted to double check. I should have a shake with carbs PRE training, my usual post training shake, and a cbl meal 30 min later? Thanks!

Ah no just wait till after lifting and just get a good amount of carbs in as you can without making yourself sick. I wouldn't think having carbs before or while training will end up a good idea.

CaseyDMemberAt the very least, hope you did an intra workout shake with carbs. Carbs pre training (a small amount) probably would've been a good idea as well.

I have to disagree with Big Tex 😮 I think its probably the best Idea to get a pre-workout meal in you if your working out that late. Its important to prime your muscles for growth, and since your going to have a hard time getting in the carbs I would advise you to start before! Not huge, and nothing thats really going to spike your insulin crazy. Also, add the Intra workout shake!

Brandon D ChristParticipantThe official CBL protocol for night time training is pre-workout carbs if you are on Density Bulk, no pre-workout carbs if you are on strength accumulation.Feel free to experiment, but accept responsibility if something goes wrong.

Tanner FoxParticipantWhen I have to train later and go to bed at a decent time there is no way I have the appetite PWO to get the required amount of carbs in. In this situation Kiefer has recommended PB and J sandwiches and they seem to work well. I can tell you I feel a little less “balls to the wall” with having carbs Pre-WO but getting in the required amount of carbs for the backload trumps everything else at that point (in my opinion anyways).
