MagnumTMemberIve noticed that there's been some slight weight gain ever since I started back to CBL after CNS (about 3-5lbs and this is still my first week back on CBL ). My question is, is it normal since I reintroducing carbs into my system to gain some weight back, and if so about how much ? Will it go up a bit, and start comming down again ? Ive also noticed that my weight the day after a backload is where I see the most weight gain but Im allmost positive its bloat.

It is most likely glycogen restoring itself, along with water (which is how glyco stores in muscle). That is normal, and to be expected.Give it a couple weeks, see how it goes. You will always be glyco-loaded on CBL, but you shouldn't increase fat by too much. That said, muscle should grow (if you are on DB).Cory

Im following SA not trying to get swole , Im trying to loose fat, and maintain/gain strength. Ive been checking my BF with calipers, and ive noticed a slight drop so far, so I hope im on the right track. I just dont want to balloon up into another weight class lol

The fact that you are re-introducing frequent carb feedings into your diet, will cause glyco to store. The mechanism by which it stores, the conduit if you will, is water - intra-muscular water. Completely normal, and there is no way around this. This is why bodybuilders go through depletion phases for contest, and time re-introduction of carbs in a controlled manner.Do not let the weight bother you, and 3-5 lbs. is about normal... I've gone as high as 7-8! We are all different.Give it a couple weeks, and if you see a steady increase in weight, let us know... and we can review your diet, program, split, etc., and find out what might be going wrong, or what might need tweaked.Cory

Cory McCarthyMember…I wanted to clarify. It takes ~3,500 cals for a single pound to be added to your body (not specifying what that lb. comprises of). Muscle and fat simply do not synthesize THAT fast, that is why I suggest giving it time. This is very likely just water / glyco.Don't worry. 🙂Cory

I am just finishing up my 2nd week of C.B.L.. Now, this is just my personal experience thus far. I have gained about 3 lbs. in my first week but my measurements haven't budged a bit. And, as of this morning, I am up about 6 lbs. but, I had a pretty big back-load last night. A little more than I wanted but, I woke up this morning not feeling a bloat. Tomorrow is really my official weigh-in and when I take my measurements. I posed this question in my blog as well. The responses have been, that, I would gain 5 - 10 lbs. back. And, in the C.N.S. book in the F.A.Q. section (pg. 124 - hard copy), Kiefer states that it will be most likely water weight and not fat. So, I am not worried about the scale (well not ...really... worried) but I too would like to see the overall number go down. If you'd like, I'll follow up tomorrow after I take my measurements and tell you if they go up and down or not. And, I will also see how much weight I have gained as well.

Stupid question but what is "DB"?
September 19, 2012 at 5:34 pm #81959
P.J.ParticipantDB is Density Bulking. It's when you backload every night regardless of whether or not you do resistance training.

P.J.ParticipantI'm a strong advocate of bodyfat calipers for monitoring your progress. They're cheap and easy to use. They might not be as accurate as DEXA scans or dunking yourself underwater, but they're a reliable point of reference because your skin fold measurements don't jump all over the place like your weight on the scale just because you're bloated or ate a massive meal. The amount you can pinch is the same whether you suck your stomach in or stick it out. Muscle tissue is also too hard and dense for the calipers to pinch, so any changes in caliper readings almost certainly have to do with pure fat.
