tbrown1025MemberHi! I am starting CNS on Thursday this week, and I have a question about the Carb Nites. There's no specified counts for the carb grams of course, but I'm wondering if there's a ballpark figure? I keep reading, “Don't overdo CarbNite,” and “you have to eat enough carbs,” so I'm thinking a bit more clarification would work for me (what's too much, what's not enough?).I'm a 5'1" female, 132lbs; weight training 3-4 days/week and am pretty mobile throughout the day, at least according to the nifty FitBit. Thanks in advance for your help. 🙂

Richard SchmittModeratorWell let's see, there really isn't a range to go by for an actual Carb Nite. It can range from 300-1000g. (I'm not kidding) reason I say this because you can have 50g of carbs for a baked sweet potato for a whole food source and then you can another 50g worth of dextrose to make it tastier that won't necessarily fill you up. It all ranges from you want and how you go about it. You will probably need to eat a good amount to kick start fat burning again.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorTex is right, there is not set range.However, I find some people just eat till they want to puke, sometimes they puke and keep eating, and I just don't think this is beneficial at all.Granted, doing this your first carb nite is fine, it gets it out of your system and that sick feeling makes you want to not do it again, but doing it every time isn't needed.They way I do it is over a 6-7 hour period I eat 2 fairly large dinners that are carb heavy, I eat 1 smaller dessert, and one large dessert. By the end of it I'm very full, stuffed even, but I'm not sick feeling.

tbrown1025MemberThanks for the replies. I'm not worried about over-doing it so much as I am about under-doing it. I suppose it's a “try and see” thing considering there's no mac/cals counting; it's more about the f:p ratios. I'm going to use the meal plans in the book to keep me on track with that. Also, one other question: Workout timing doesn't seem to be such an issue in CNS as in CBL, correct? I workout early morning (6a); I also go to bed around 9-9:30p, so to get 6-8hours of carbs on Carb Nite, I'd need to start earlier than the day than recommended in the book. If I remember, this should be ok? Will my morning workouts have too much of an effect on the CNS?

Yeah I would stop around 2 hours before bed. Fasted morning training is ideal and will work between towards fat loss.
