jrussoMemberGood Evening All,I have a question. I usually fast for longer than 12 hours each morning- I go for about 14-16 hours and break my fast at lunch time even though sometimes I could go even longer than that. I know that 12 hours is the recommended fasting time, but I really do not feel hungry enough to eat first thing in the morning. I eat my last meal at usually 745PM. I am not interested in muscle building right now, just fatloss. Am I ok fasting for longer? I still have my coffee and coconut oil every morning which really makes me not want to eat!

Richard SchmittModeratorEating at the 14 hour mark is ok. As long as its a whole meal.

jrussoMemberWhat is the reasoning for this? Because with this diet I am never hungry and have to literally force myself to break my fast. Sometimes I like to wait until hunger ensues naturally without having to stuff food down my throat…

You don't have to ingest food at the 12 hour mark. Thus why we take in the MCT oil with coffee at the period. Just to prolong the fat burning affect that is happening when you wake.

jrussoMemberoh ok, that makes better sense to me know. When does fat burning start to taper off? the 14 hour mark?

Richard SchmittModeratorIt's not the sense of fat burning stopping but muscle tissue starts to be catabolic. Basically you'll be loosing all your hard earned muscle and strength. Which personally into performance I want to intake something at the 12 hour mark.

jrussoMemberok, that makes sense in regards to your personal goals, but for me: I am not into muscle building right now just fatloss, so I should be ok to fast for longer maybe to 14 or perhaps longer if I want to. Today I went 16 hours between meals, the coconut oil and coffee in the morning really keeps me full and energized. I dont even think about food
