Neuro AnovaParticipantI'm pretty annoyed. Sorry that my introduction as a new member has to be a negative one. I was really excited about getting started with carb backloading. I spent the 57$ to buy the book, then took 1/2 of Saturday and all day Sunday basically memorizing it, only to reach Chapter 51 – Gender Differences, where I learned that the book, as written, will not work for women. Oh my gracious! Chapter 51?! You know, I don't need to be spoon-fed; I have a PhD in neurotoxicology and developmental science; I have a pretty darn good understanding of biochemistry. However, I would have read the book from a different point of view had I realized from the get-go that it was highly geared toward men. Dr. Keifer! “Gender Differences” should have been Chapter 2! Then, all along the way, in each chapter, it would have been helpful to have some “for women” subtext. Another surprise, your definition of what is NOT resistance training. This also would have been an excellent piece of information to have up front. It would have directed the thought process differently, while reading. Sigh…. I was ready to sit with my trainer on Monday and work through a diet and exercise plan, but now, I am not prepared to do so. A day and a half wasted. You know, I also have a math degree, but I am none to happy about having to manually modify all the values in the book so they work for a 140 lb woman – too busy for such. That is why I paid 57$. I will not give up though – even if I am really mostly on my own to figure this out. Based on my education and training, these tools should work.

Richard SchmittModeratorWell hello!Sorry about your frustration. The reason why Kiefer mentions "Gender Differences" and why CBL doesn't work with women is because of certain tweaks that must be made. I am not educated in any type of degree that is very significant like yours but I will do my best to help explain. Women tend to hold onto glycogen stores a lot more than men. Making fat burning very difficult. Unless you do a few things to help burn those stores making carbs better for the female body. If you go to soundcloud.com and look up Biojacked or Kiefer to search one of his podcast explaining more in-depth about what women should do. It's the Weddings Episode. Also on the dangerouslyhardcore.com site contains a couple articles you might be interested in. I know it's a lot of reading and listening but it's gathering more knowledge on what you can do personally to see the results you really want. I do apologize for the confusion and frustration. I do hope that this does get cleared up. Kiefer has also mentioned how a CBL for Women book will be out sometime soon. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Neuro AnovaParticipantThanks for the response. In addition to the “Wedding Episode”, a relatively new podcast with a dialog between Marci and Kiefer was also helpful. I am making some progress.
