Nadya TopalovaivanParticipantHi all,I decided to post my CBL journey. I’m 27 year old, 189 cm (6’2’’) ~ 84kg (185 pounds) (before the prep phase). I’m quite an active guy, I’ve played basketball for years, and I don’t think there were many days that I spent without doing some sort of physical activity, that’s just the way I am. I have read tons of articles, books and whatnots about human anatomy, nutrition, diets and exercise. However, I always seem to miss something, and not to get something right. I keep expecting things to happen and they don’t, even though stuff I read says it should.A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Kiefer’s work and CBL in particular. I read a few articles about it and decided to buy the book. So I did. I think it is a great read and I love the way he writes and expresses himself. Had to use a dictionary a few times, I must admit. Many of the things I was holding dear to be true were actually not correct and in many case the exact opposite. Breakfast being the most obvious. Pre-workout carbs, as well. I used to eat carbs before a game or lifting weights, hoping to be strong and enduring. I was so wrong. After reading Kiefer’s book and any additional articles I could get my hand on, I, now, can put the pieces together quite easily and everything makes complete sense. Everything I “almost” knew for so many years I now completely know and understand, that’s a great feeling. Thank you Kiefer!I started with the prep phase, (I was not scared anymore about the weight that I would lose, because I knew it was predominantly water and fat.) Started with the back-loading and I feel great. It was just my second CBL night yesterday, but I feel so good that I thought I should write here. The most exciting thing for me was the, so called, Hulk Effect ™ that I noticed in yesterday’s training. (Huge fan of the character hulk, btw, love the drama, love the power.) So yesterday, after just 1 CBL night, I noticed great strength. That kind of strength I have only had when lifting when really angry at something or when I’m in a great mood/shape and some “Prodigy” sounds in my ears. And these moments had really short duration. Yesterday, after warming up good, I had almost an hour knowing what it’s like to be a green powerhouse. It wasn’t just subjective, either. It was my arms day and on each and every exercise I could lift a good 10% more than usual. It was almost surrealistic. There was a stupid grin on my face and I could not quite comprehend how this could be happening set after set. I hope it’s not going to be the last time, and I’m really excited about today’s training. I hope expectations don’t spoil it. I just noticed how long this post is, so I’m wrapping things up with a few highlights.- Long live MTR. There’s a lot to be taken from the book, a lot. Enough knowledge to be your own body’s master and commander.- The Hulk Effect ™ !!!-That moment when my veiny hands are pushing a shopping trolley full of cakes, cookies and pies. Oxymoron, not!- No more unexplained yawning in the gym! - I have noticed many things that my body was telling my through the years, things that are all in Kiefer’s book, but my, until then, pseudo knowledge was holding me back and telling me, “NO this cannot be true!” Not anymore. Now, I know what is happening and I can predict it, because it’s just that simple. 2+2 is 4. Carbs at night is better than carbs in the morning. All I can say is, I hope I get the results I want. I strongly believe that’s what’s going to happen. Thanks you for reading my really long post, thank you Kiefer for being the man you are and making it possible for us to have access to that knowledge. Good luck to everybody.I’m posting a few pics of my body before CBL. They are an year old, but that’s the kind of shape I’ve been in for years. Very, very little progress, almost it doesn’t matter if I train hard 4 times a week, or once every 2 weeks. All that will change now. I've been around 12% body fat for years and I want improvement. Nothing has worked for me so far, crazy training included. Only marginal changes. I hope CBL does the job.p.s. Sorry for my English.p.p.s Excuse the mean face expression on the 2nd pic.
