See you don't hate the smith machine....you hate the "bros", which I think we all do.Embrace the smith machine. Do a set of 25 for Incline press...then flick off the "bros"BUT if I ever hear about you doing up-right rows in the smith machine....you don't even want to know.

+1The Smith has its uses, but they should not involve bent-rows.  LOL.The fucking "brahs"... they definitely won't be using the smith for Squats... they never train legs.Cory

Have you ever tried them?  I can get really good contraction from smith machine rows.  The smith machine is great for hypertrophy work, especially if you are doing more intense stuff like rest pauses, drop sets, and negatives.  The only thing I don't like it for are squats, maybe front squats.

I only do my bent over rows in the smith machine. I agree with ibob that its all hypertrophy work, which is my main goal. It also takes that little bit of leg cheating that comes into play with regular rows. Awesome for rest pause as well. Ibob - for squats have you ever tried to do out of the bottom partials with the smith machine. Put a weight you can get a hard 8-10 with and only do the bottom half of the squat no lock out, just bang them out. Increasingly loving the smith rack as a compliment to so many back lifts.
