If more than two days have passed since last load should I do a light pre-load the night before if i'm doing SA PM work out the following day? What about if I'm doing an AM fasted work out on SA and I load the night before, should I still load again the night following the AM work out, or did the FULL pre-load preceding the AM workout negate the need for a backload that night? In the book it's a bit confusing about training in the AM because he talks about waiting till night to back load following an AM work out, but then some where around here I've heard that we should pre-load if we are training  in the AM. So I'm a bit confused, as to what this means; i.e. pre-load and backload, pre-load light, and back load heavy, pre-load heavy, no back load, or pre-load heavy, back load heavy?

The purpose of the backload is to replenish glycogen for the next workout. So, if you have gone a couple days without a backload, yes you should backload the last night off (before the next days workout) because your glycogen will be depleted due to being carbless for a couple days. So for example, if you backload Friday night after a workout and then take Saturday and Sunday off of training and plan to workout Monday A.M. you should backload Sunday night. You need to play with this a little bit to see just how many carbs you need for your Monday workout. If your goal is to lose weight/fat and maintain muscle, try a light backload, but if you are DB you should probably be backloading every night. Then, Monday night you should backload again for Tuesdays workout because you will have depleted glycogen again with that morning workout. Hope this helps.
