Luecine from animal sources vs supplements, how does your body use it different?

    All meat has quite a bit of leucine in it already so what does it matter if I supplement an extra 3-5 grams a day?  My whey hydrolysate already has leucine in it as a part of the amino acid profile etc etc…Why do I need to add in the supplement?Also, if leucine is to be avoided during low carb periods, in supplement form, what do we have to say about the fact that you are eating leucine all the time in low carb period in your meat?I eat about two cans of sardines a day to supplement my Omega-3 EPA/DHA and I noticed the amino acid profile includes about 3g of Leucine in the sardines.WHole food use vs. that in supplements, generally speaking, is confusing to me.  I don't understand taking supplements if I am getting it in my whole food and leucine is definately abundant in whole food animal proteins sources.

    Single amino acids get absorbed much quicker than when you ingest them with food.

    OK, I figured this would be the answer.  So is there some strategy by which you could just eat your whole food animal proteins an hour or so before you workout so the amino acids are ready to be absorbed or something like that?  Also, my guess is the leucine in my whey hydrolysate must be pretty absorbable since the whole thing should be quick absorbing.  Is that correct?

    OK, I'm going to bring this post back up again in light of the fact that I am eating a lot of raw eggs, eggs in general.  It looks like a typical egg has about 1/2 g of Leucine per egg.  If whole food sources of Leucine digest so much slower than straight leucine supplement then is there really reason to fear eating eggs and having the Leucine raise your insulin?I know this topic is getting kicked to death here and there but as far as I have read I would say the verdict is definately still out and your mileage may vary.For me I am eating some extra fat with my eggs in hopes of not spiking insulin but based on previous responses on the subject whole food sources of leucine just don't spike insulin that much...?
