JasterM5KeymasterHey everyone, I just started the CNS last Friday and planned it so I'd have 1 CN between starting and Thanksgiving and then setting Thanksgiving as a CN as well. Well I'm an idiot and somehow miscalculated, so now the minimal 4 day wait sets CN on Black Friday. do you think i should postpone my first CN until thanksgiving? effectively making my intro into 12 days? or should i cut the intro 1 day short and have my CN on Sat and then have another one on Thanksgiving? Also I check my BF% on the day before i started and checked it again today, 1 week later and it says my BF went up .2%, is that normal in intro? I lost like 4.5lbs and my hydration stayed the same. It was checked on some high tech scale our company health guru brings in so i would imagine its somewhat accurate. I will admit i wasn't able to make it to the gym this week but i would have though such a drastic diet change would have made a little bit of a difference.any thought would be greatly appreciated

FairyGuestThose scales are not accurate, don't pay attention to them.I'd say if your primary aim is fatloss, go for 12 days, if your primary aim is muscle building do 10, then wait 4 days.

Lesli BortzParticipantI think 12 days is a little extreme to be ULC. Kiefer said your body really needs to be refueled once a week…it's not good to go too long. Maybe treat this weekend like a CBL…not toooo crazy, but something decent.

I like this, keep it to one meal. If you think you can tough out more days ULC, than it could work, but I don't think it is optimal either. Also, don't worry about a .2% increase, its nothing to worry about, could have just been an off weigh in.

RussiBGuestHi Jaster,I've used and bought scales that claim to measure BF% and to be honest my BF% has a swing of about 5-8% on my own scales at home - I'm not joking. I am tempted to throw them out because it's so ridiculous. They work by sending an electrical signal through your body and measuring the returning current and resistance. Problem is, if you step on the scale before and after drinking a pint of water, passing water, sleep, eating etc. etc. then it changes massively. I stepped on my scales one day and it told me I was nearly 40% BF. Stupid - don't worry about what the scales are telling you, listen to your own body instead.I do sometimes wonder if I'm going to step on the scales one day and be like, wow, I've gained 7lbs, I'd better go back to crash dieting with low fat and 60-90 minutes in the gym every day. Realistically though I keep an eye on how I feel, how my clothes feel when I wear them and how I look in the mirror now. That's difficult because I've just started lifting weights again as well so some change in muscle formation is inevitable and I may look slightly 'bigger' without having gained fat. When I have these minor rushes of blood to the head I just think to myself, I spent 3 years working out 5-6 days per week, eating healthily and restricting myself from all the foods I enjoy and it made me miserable. That formula didn't work for me, so now I'm gonna try it this way. So far I have lost 3-4 pounds and my clothes feel a bit nicer around the waist and shoulders etc. .2% of BF is nothing to be worried about. Keep up the good work.P.S. I didn't lose any 'weight' during my reorientation - it is different for everyone. Try to keep an eye on your macros though, I have a tendency to over do it when I take my eye off the ball and that slows down my fat loss.

RussiBGuestHey Jaster,BF on Saturday was 38.9% according to my scales. This morning it was 35.5%. Overall weight went up 4lbs during that time because of CN on Saturday.Either something has gone REALLY well or the scales have just proved my point.Russ
