I'd agree. Outside of PWO you will be better off using whole foods.I tend to just use some coffee and MCT after HIIT, but you could try using a PWO shake and see how you do.If you are doing any other kind of cardio then no, don't use a shake.

I think a protein shake with 3 g of leucine is a good idea after HIIT. It will stop muscle breakdown and the insulin spike will be really quick and shouldn't get in the way of fat burning the rest of the day.
